Hey everyone, I'm Corrine! I grew up in Eastern Iowa, near the Iowa River on land cared for by several Indigenous nations including the Meskwaki, Sauk, and Báxoje nations, and later cared for by German settlers seeking religious freedom. While I grew up seeing Iowa as corn and soy, in graduate school I farmed part-time and learned more about Iowa's complex history, biodiversity, and restoration practices. Sometimes therapy can follow a similar process. We can see ourselves as "____" until we have more language, context, and simply some time to reflect on the lifelong questions of, "Who am I? What do I love? And where am I going?" 

 

My undergraduate and graduate studies at Iowa State were rooted in the science and art of psychology. I studied rigorous, evidence based approaches to treatment within big-picture and relational frameworks.

Some key takeaways which inform my work include... 

• The body and mind are inherently connected. Together we can get curious about what health looks like for you from an open, no-outcomes-attached perspective to understand how nutrition, movement, sleep, substances, and early experiences inform your health now. 

• I understand health and daily habits as connected to greater systems (i.e., built-environments, access to nature, our families, schools, and jobs).

• Our therapy together may use a narrative approach with behavioral interventions (i.e., Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy). Some topics within this include: reflection on your current situation, connection to others, honesty, defining our values, and noticing how behaviors impact daily routine, people in your life, and your nervous system. 

 

Now in Colorado, I am planting roots, literally and metaphorically, to build a private practice informed by this primary idea: healing can occur in many places and with many people by our side. As we explore different places with one another, a new understanding of ourselves can be unearthed.
